Transformers the Movie 1986 Final Cut - Start the Movement!

General / 24 September 2022

This scene was not in the original TFTM 1986 storyboards. I added this sequence and others for a total of 15 seconds of animation that gives the Autobots more teeth, more defensive capability, more of the heroism that were grew to love when watching season 1 and 2. Added together with other deleted storyboards, we'll hopefully have about 2 minutes of new footage for the 1986 movie. I'll have a bigger update for everyone in early October.

The time is now -- let's start a movement under the hashtag: #TFmovie1986finalcut

Transformers Movie 1986 Rare Storyboards of Decepticon Attack on Autobot Shuttle

Making Of / 22 September 2022

A few months ago, a storyboard artist for Transformers the Movie 1986, Peter K Chung, posted his rare 1986 storyboards of the "Decepticon Attack on Autobot Shuttle" in his instagram account. The storyboards reveal some insight into the original vision of the violent attack, which was even MORE violent than what we saw in theaters:

- We actually see Brawn get cut in half by Megatron's gun.
- We see Prowl's Spark get a direct hit from Scavenger's gun.
- We see Ironhide and Ratchet stop shooting, which gives the Decepticons a moment to return fire. Then Ironhide and Ratchet both explode after they hit the ground.

While it pained me to see my Autobots die such horrible deaths, I somehow got motivated to spend two days on this animatic, which adds some basic camera moves, music and sound effects to the storyboards. The pacing is intentionally slow (2.5 to 3 seconds for each shot) so that you have time to see the details or pause. AI voices are used for Prowl, Ironhide and Brawn. Prowl and Ironhide's lines are from an early draft of the movie, while Brawn's line "Today's a good day for your funeral!" was a quote I found on the internet that I chose to add in. Editing done in Capcut and Premiere. Sounds effects from the tfcog website and ripped & compiled by Grimbot and Taggenagger Thank you to Peter K Chung for sharing this rare gem with the Transformers fans!

Transformers Movie 1986 - Optimus Prime Death Speech Rewritten

Article / 22 September 2022

Disclaimer: No kids were hurt in the filming of this video.
Disclaimer 2: I don't think Prime should talk like this but it's funny as hell so I made it.
Disclaimer 3: Just because I said I want less violence in The Movie, it doesn't mean I don't like the movie. I FRIGGIN LOVE THE MOVIE. I just want it to be that much better.

Perceptor
I fear the wounds are fatal.

Daniel
Prime you can't die!

Optimus Prime
Sorry, Daniel, there's a secret that Hasbro hasn't told you. The whole point of the series and this movie was to sell toys, but Hasbro has decided to discontinue the toys in this catalog... so they're killing us all. New toys have to be sold no matter the cost. So Hasbro is killing me and all your favorite characters. Even if it means traumatizing you with the cold reality of death. And if you cry about this 36 years later, you'll be labeled soft, and that you don't understand business, and that Transformers needed this to teach kids a lesson about life.  And don't even think about giving feedback to Hasbro. It's 1986. We have phones and fax machines, not email or social media. And even if Hasbro got a call from your angry mother or your pissy ass, you think Hasbro would listen? Never! For Hasbro, business is business, consequences be damned. This was Optimus Prime, 1984 toy that's no longer profitable, signing off!

Transformers the Movie 1986 was too Violent

Article / 21 September 2022

Transformers The Movie 1986 failed in a sense, failed us in terms of telling a heroic story about the Autobots. Like Transformers wouldn't be Transformers without those early Autobots that made Transformers great. And to just make a movie out of nowhere, kill 'em off or give them offscreen deaths and then introduce a bunch of new characters, which were cool and which were definitely worth making, I think probably in a couple of years, you know? I feel like they rushed the phase out of our beloved characters. They should have taken a page from Japanese anime in a sense that you don't really have to kill off characters.  If characters get too weak for the enemy then the characters upgrade.

They should have just kept upgrading Prowl, Sideswipe,  Optimus Prime, Wheeljack, Ratchet, and  Ironhide, just keep upgrading them like  Bumblebee became Goldbug. And we liked it obviously.

I could beat that dead horse till the end of time but needs to be said that they  messed up as much as I enjoy the movie.
